What a way to make your release debut
As I sit here typing this blog post, listening to CYA – Mistakes, images and memories from clubbing in 1998/9 are running through my head. Why? Because for me this track, for the first time in maybe a generation has captured something that no record has since that era. An uplift, energy and euphoric vibe that filled the golden age of clubbing in the UK. CYA have done what others almost accomplished like Swedish House Mafia before moving to more “EDM”, *facepalm*. CYA, the unknown Spanish duo have given us a debut track that builds and is positive throughout. Mistakes has a breakdown to give you a much needed breather to then build into huge risers and breaks that will lift even the coolest of dance floors into a euphoric frenzy.
This is what we have been waiting for for a long time, a move from almost too much of the same too kool for skool house music (which I am no knocking as I do love it) back to something more energetic to get your blood pumping and the hair on your arms and neck standing up. Packed full of melody and drums this track has it all, from a DJ of 20 years perspective Mistakes would be the peak of a set, the centre piece of which a set builds towards and is then set off like an explosion.
Pete Tong: “Reminds me of one of those tunes we used to start the weekend with 10 years ago, if there was a sleeve for that record it would have a fist on it!”
Its out soon on Steve Angello’s Size records, February 24th 2017 so not long to wait and it will be straight on our playlist 🙂
We love it, more of the same please CYA!
